Oil & gas stocks Oil IndiaBSE -3.20 % (down 2.77 per cent), Oil and Natural Gas CorporationBSE -2.73 % (ONGC) (down 2.56 per cent) and Hindustan Petroleum CorporationBSE -2.34 % (HPCL) (down 2.26 per cent) were trading in the red during afternoon trade on Wednesday, keeping the sectoral index down.
The BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 1.01 per cent down at 15,080 around 12:35 pm (IST). Shares of Castrol India (down 1.22 per cent), Reliance IndustriesBSE -1.97 % (down 1.15 per cent), GAIL (India) (down 0.62 per cent) and Indian Oil Corporation (down 0.17 per cent) were also incurring losses.
Meanwhile, Indraprastha Gas (up 0.97 per cent), Petronet LNG (up 0.83 per cent) and Bharat Petroleum CorporationBSE -0.06 % (up 0.04 per cent) were in the green. Benchmark BSE Sensex was 187 points down at 33,130, while the NSE Nifty50 index was down 69 points at 10,181. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.
